A journey through Libya's transformation
A Libyan doctor who found her calling in democracy. My journey began in medicine — learning that sustainable health requires stable, inclusive institutions. Over a decade, I moved from clinics to conference rooms, building what didn't exist and speaking where women weren't expected to be heard.
Completed my MBBS and discovered a passion for the institutions that determine whether communities thrive. Medicine treats individuals — I wanted to treat systems and build the conditions for collective wellbeing.
Founded H2O Organization to lead national programs on civic participation, elections, governance, decentralization, and youth empowerment — building from the ground up what Libya's democratic civil society needed.
Took leadership of Wasla Research & Consulting and joined Salaam Media Network as Program Developer — shaping political media content for five critical national initiatives and overseeing strategic research agendas.
Founded Nissa Libya Network to amplify women's political voices, and Eye on Elections to professionalize citizen election observation — building national capacity and international-standard methodologies where none existed.
Appointed Advisor to the Office of Vice-President Abdullah Al-Lafi, contributing to three major national reconciliation projects spanning media engagement, youth participation, and community peacebuilding.
Collaborated with Luiss University (Italy) on academic research on decentralization and women's political participation, while launching Al-Maa Consulting in the UK to bring Libyan governance expertise to global partnerships.
